The biggest event in the European tech calendar is right around the corner. One week from today, all the hottest new startups from around the world will converge on Amsterdam for The Next Web 2011 - three days of pitching, demos and presentations.

Talking of startups, we hear that these guys will be attending. They look pretty promising ;)

One of the key themes this year is 'we love mobile'. So we'll have lots to talk about. We'll have a startup booth on Thursday 28th, so do join us for a chat, a demo and to talk tech.

Goodies: new features

If you're not attending The Next Web, don't worry: we have you covered. We'll be launching several exciting new features as part of our online app authoring tool in the next couple of weeks. What features exactly? Well, you'll just have to wait and see...

In the last release, we introduced the App Library, an easy way to get pre-built apps to build upon or learn from. And in the release prior to that, we enabled both orientation support and widget/screen copying. So if you haven't yet tried these new features, now's the time.

We're really excited to see what people are making in Spot Specific. Don't forget that if you haven't yet joined the mobile app revolution, or know a comrade who could do with an account, get on to the site posthaste and sign up before the beta ends!
